a gift goodbye

it never rains around here.

when nik and i first moved out here, we were moving from michigan - the land of beautiful green grass and tons of lakes. well, we were living down in the valley at the time so we didn't have the temperate climate and the beautiful greens and blues of the tahoe area.

we were in the desert.

so, that first summer - when it did finally rain for the first time - we felt such relief.
finally! a break from desert heat!

the way that the rain fell that day felt like the sky had held its emotions until it couldn't hold them anymore and then cried an intense cry. [you know the feeling.]

why the trip down memory lane?

yesterday it rained! i know, it may not seem like a big deal, but it really poured. and it was beautiful. the clouds reminded me of the way fog moves into the central coast of California, settling into the nooks of the valleys. in fact, the fog was such an intense gray, it looked like a thick wool blanket had been laid down.

here are pictures from nature's sendoff... perfect timing.

{don't worry, today it's sunny again}
